We spent a wonderful July weekend learning about the medicines we can find around us! The Trailblazers spent 4 days with different Knowledge Holders and Elders. They learned about the 4 Sacred Medicines, red willow, sumac, and more!
Miigwech to Edna Manitowabi and Beedahbin Peltier for teaching us!
Miigwech to Michele Lacombe, the Nind Fund, and Fulbright Canada for making this weekend possible!
Here’s what the Trailblazers had to say:
"I learned lots about plant medicines and the four medicines and their place on the medicine wheel. We listened, went out onto the land and shared and it was nice. I really enjoyed and appreciated all the teachings from these last four days."
"I liked the walk with Beedahbin and learning about medicines we can find and use."
"I liked preparing the medicine, shaving the red willow in particular. I also liked practicing language with everyone. I learned a lot from Edna and I enjoyed learning new things."
"I learned a lot about what the medicines mean or what you can do with them."
"I really liked being outside and being able to learn about traditional medicines and teachings about them. The medicine walk was really enjoyable and so was harvesting the different medicines. It was planned well and ran smoothly which helped make it more enjoyable. Overall, an amazing experience"
"I liked learning with Beedahbin and walking with him and talking about plants and what they do."
