Aaniin, wachay!
My name is Tanez (she/her), I am Mushkegowuk Cree and of mixed European ancestry from Attawapiskat First Nation, and have lived in Sutton Ontario most of my life.
I love being out on the land/water, listening to sounds of the natural world, and acknowledging the beings within is so important to me. Whether it be through camping, gardening, occasionally hanging with bees, or simply walking around the bush and trails in Nogojiwanong! Our connection to the environment, one that is reciprocal, is something I am passionate about, walking gently on this Earth.
This is my first year working with TRACKS as an educational summer instructor. I am very excited as TRACKS centres Indigenous knowledge systems while intertwining it with Western Sciences, a perspective I value and have been navigating through my studies at Trent in the Indigenous Environmental Studies program.
